Talk and Meditation - Cultivating Emotional Awareness

What do you do when a challenging emotion, such as guilt, fear or anger comes up? Are you able to meet your feelings calmly, or do you get swept away by them? 

Today's podcast is all about cultivating emotional awareness. This is a potentially life-changing practice. It can instil you with the resilience to deal with whatever arises. Imagine waking up in the morning knowing that whatever appears, you have the inner tools to handle it. 

Learning how to be emotionally aware can help you to feel calmer, build stronger relationships, achieve your goals and enjoy your life more. It has certainly had a dramatic impact on my life. 

At its heart, emotional awareness is about being able to identify your emotions, feel them fully, then let them go. It's about seeing that they are here for a reason and listening to them with acceptance.

With practice, you find that all emotions come and go. Even amidst the heaviest of feelings, you know that this too will pass. This brings a wider perspective and spaciousness to your inner world, so you can take them less seriously.

Ultimately, you come to see that you are not your emotions. You are the conscious being that is aware of them!  This realization brings a great sense of freedom, knowing that however dark and painful your heart might feel, you don't need to be dragged down. You can let them come, let them go and enjoy your time here on earth.
